Surya Nepal Western Open

Kathmandu, March 17: The fifth event of the Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2025–26, the 26th edition of the Surya Nepal Western Open, will be held at the Himalayan Golf Course from 18–20 March 2026. The tournament is organized by the Nepal Professional Golfers Association and sponsored by Surya Nepal Pvt. Ltd.

This 54-hole professional event will feature over 26 professionals and 16 amateurs. The tournament will conclude with a Pro-Am event on Saturday, 21 March, where Pokhreli amateurs will have the opportunity to team up with the country’s leading professional golfers, gaining valuable exposure and experience.

Set against the majestic backdrop of Mt. Machhapuchhre and nestled within a dramatic ravine alongside the Bijayapur River, the course promises a true test of skill for the nation’s top golfers.

The total prize purse for this year’s event has been increased to NPR 1,050,000. The winner will receive NPR 170,000, while the runner-up and second runner-up will earn NPR 125,000 and NPR 100,000 respectively. Cash prizes will also be awarded to players finishing within the top 18 positions.

Defending champion and current number one professional Niraj Tamang, along with winners of the previous two events Bhuvan Nagarkoti, Sanjay Lama, and Jayaram Shrestha, are expected to be strong contenders. Among the amateurs, Rahul Bishwakarma is anticipated to pose a significant challenge to the professionals.

The Himalayan Golf Course has been prepared to top standards and is ready to challenge even the best players. Playing as a par-69, 16-hole layout—with the first and second holes played twice—the course presents a unique and demanding test. It is widely regarded as one of the most adventurous golf courses in the world and has been recognized by Golf Digest.

PGAN President Rabindra Man Shrestha said, “We are delighted to host this tournament for the 26th consecutive year. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our sponsor for their continued support. I am confident that both professionals and amateurs will deliver an exciting and competitive tournament.” #nepal
