ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup: Nepal beats UAE ‘A’ by three wickets

Kathmandu, July 19: Nepal has defeated the United Arab Emirates ‘A’ by three wickets in a match of the 2023 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup. The match was held in P. Sara in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Chasing the 168-run target posted by UAE ‘A’, Nepal achieved it in 23 overs at the loss of seven wickets.

For Nepal, Kushal Bhurtel hit highest 71 runs off 43 with nine boundaries and four sixes. Similarly, Dev Khanal and Sandip Jora contributed 24 each. Gulsan Jha made 11 and Captain Rohit Paudel nine. Pratish GC and Kushal Malla remained unbeaten on eight and two respectively.

Towards bawling, UAE’s Mohammad Faraazuddin took five wickets alone followed by two wickets by Muhammad Jawadullah.

Prior to that, the UAE chose to batting first by winning the toss and made 157 in 44 overs at the loss of all wickets. Lovepreet Singh of the UAE played with six fours and one six in 82 balls, contributing 52 to the team.

Ethan D’Souza made 18 while Ashwanth Valthapa and Aryansh Sharma played with 16 and 14 respectively.

Towards bowling, Nepal’s Kushal Bhurtel took 6 wickets alone, while Shyam Dhakal claimed 2 wickets. Kushal Malla and Pawan Sarraf both took an equal number of 1 wicket each. Along with this match, Nepal and UAE’s ‘A’ teams have been eliminated from the competition.

In the opening match, Nepal was defeated to Pakistan ‘A’ by four wickets and with India (A) by nine wickets.
