Kathmandu, July 24: President Ramchandra Paudel has said we Nepalis are proud today because we have inherited sacrifices, courage and bravery from the ancestors.
Addressing the 225th birth anniversary of national luminary Bhimsen Thapa, President Poudel viewed adhering to the positive sides of history could do justice to present time. The programme was organized here on Friday to confer various awards and honours as well.
“Once the positive aspects of history are followed well, it helps pave the way for building prosperous future,” he underscored.
The Head of State reminded the sacrifices and contributions made by our brave ancestors for our nation, nationality, national integrity and sovereignty. Their sacrifices and devotion count much. He made it clear that the ardent faith and commitment to patriotism should not be weakened but strengthened with national unity that keeps intact mutual fraternity, friendship and tolerance.
“We should make the country prosperous and advance by instilling the spirit of patriotism for the future generations based on the basis of unity,” Paudel said, urging everyone to work in unison to end corruption and anomalies, thereby speed up works of national development and good governance.
The President added, “It will be the true respect for our brave ancestors, including the national luminary Bhimsen Thapa.”
He further said Bhimsen Thapa, who had the image of versatile personality, never bowed down against nation, nationality, national integrity and sovereignty. Patriotism was his main mantra. “Despite compulsion to pay a huge price in the war with the British, Nepal was able to remain independent owing to his firm patriotism,” Paudel explained.
Thapa was an honest and competent administrator so that he could launch reforms in the social, economic, legal and military modernization frontiers.
