Advertisement Board requires review and permission of advertisements before dissemination

Kathmandu, July 27: The Advertisement Board has said that all audio, visual, and audiovisual advertising materials must be vetted and approved by the Board before dissemination.

Issuing a notice on Monday, the Board said it has been found that various media continue to disseminate advertisements without its screening and permission. It also added that mandatory details, including the advertiser’s name, address, and warning messages, are missing from the advertisements, and exaggerated and misleading materials are being disseminated.

Under Section 15(b) of the Advertisement ( Regulation) Act, 2076 BS, Rule 5 of the Advertisement Regulation 2077 BS, and the Standards for Examination of Advertisements to be Broadcast 2078 BS (First Amendment, 2080 BS), the Board has been vested with the authority to test and approve advertising content.

The Board has directed all concerned parties to have all audio, visual, and audiovisual advertising materials meant for broadcast in Nepal examined and approved before dissemination.

It has also instructed those disseminating advertisements without prior testing to immediately undergo the testing process and complete other legal procedures.

The Board has further directed that advertisements found to be in violation of the existing law be withdrawn immediately.

It warned that action would be taken in accordance with the prevailing law against those found disseminating advertisements in breach of the legal provisions. #nepal #rss
