Kathmandu, June 24: Rajesh Kumar Agrawal has been elected as the President of Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI). The Confederation’s 20th annual general meeting elected Agrawal as its president.
Agrawal was a member of the national council of the confederation, chairman of the industry committee, chairman of the revenue committee, coordinator of the employers’ council, and became the vice president of the confederation for the past one and a half decades.
Born in Kathmandu, Agrawal has been in the industry since 1992. Agrawal, who is also the executive director of RMC Group, is involved in cement, steel, food and other sectors. The outgoing president of the confederation, Bishnu Kumar Agrawal handed over the office to the newly elected president Rajesh Kumar Agrawal while taking the oath.
Sanjay Golcha, Raj Bahadur Shah, Bidushi Rana, Ajit Bikram Shah, Hemraj Dhakal, Ashish Agrawal Jajodiya, Manish Khemka, Dwiraj Sharma (Shivakoti), Dhruba Prasad Rijal, Barsha Shrestha, Hitesh Golcha, Ashish Garg, Sapana Sapkota, Birendra Raj Pandey were among the members of the National Council of the CNI.
Likewise, Laxmi Prasad Subedi, Gokul Bhandari, Sandeep Sharda, Mohit Kedia, Amit Mor, Amit Kumar Begani, Chandra Tandon, Rohit Gupta, Nirwan Chaudhary, Varun Kumar Todi, Rahul Kumar Agrawal, Sharad Kumar Tivadevala, Vikram Singhania, Milanbabu Malla, Deepak Agrawal, Bishal Agrawal, Saurabh Dugad, Bikas Dugad, Dilip Agrawal, Gopal Kumar Agrawal, Aditya Sanghai were elected.
Seven vice presidents have been unanimously elected from the National Council members. Nirvana Chaudhary, Birendraraj Pandey, Raj Bahadur Shah, Hemraj Dhakal, Rohit Gupta, Amit Mor and Bhim Ghimire have been elected as vice presidents of the CNI. Amit Mor and Bhim Ghimire became the vice-presidents of the CNI for the first time.
President Agrawal, while assuming the post of president of the CNI, said that he will actively work on to safeguard the achievements of the CNI, and bring CNI to new heights by institutionalizing the achievements.
He said that the rapidly changing policy rules of the government, high interest rates, decrease in overall demand, decrease in production, decreasing morale and postponement of new investment plans will be presented effectively to solve the problems faced by the private sector.
The general meeting of the CNI was inaugurated by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ on Friday.
