Kathmandu, April 3: Captain of National Women’s Football Team Anjila Tumbapo and badminton player Prince Dahal have been awarded as the Best Sportsperson of the year.
Anjila and Prince were honoured with the title under female and male category respectively in the 16th NNIPA Sports Award-2078 BS organized by the National and International Players’ Association (NNIPA) here on Monday.
Both took home Rs 100,000 each and trophy.
Similarly, karate player Chanchala Danuwar and golfer Sadbhav Acharya were honoured with the Talented Sportsperson Award in female and male category respectively. Both of them received Rs 50,000 each.
Likewise, Suvekshya Khatiwada got the Best Para Athlete Award, Khadga Bahadur Ranabhat received Gajaraj Ideal Sports Personality Award while Dhruba Tuladhar, sports journalist, bagged NNIPA Sports Journalist Award.
Khatiwada got the purse of Rs 15,000 while Ranabhat took home Rs 35,000 and Tuladhar Rs 25,000.
Additionally, the NNIPA honoured 27 sportspersons of various sports authorized by the Nepal Olympic Committee with Rs 10,000 each.
National Sports Council’s (NSC) member-secretary Tankalal Ghising, NSC former member-secretary and President of Nepal Karate Federation Yuwaraj Lama and NNIPA President Deepak Shrestha among others awarded the sportspersons in recognition of their excellent performances in their respective category of sports.
