Arts, culture play key roles on civilizational development: President Bhandari

KATHMANDU : President Bidya Devi Bhandari has said a deeper level of interaction between the arts and society is needed to direct the society to a right track and get inspired from the society’s uniqueness.

Addressing a programme organized on the occasion of Golden Jubilee celebration of Culture Corporation (Rastriya Naachghar) here Sunday, President Bhandari said the Culture Corporation and different Academies in the countries should take a leading role for mutual cooperation and coordination.

According to the President, arts and cultures are the nation’s unique identity and how a society and country is contributing to the development and promotion of its unique culture is one of the measuring tools about a country’s prosperity and its civilization in the contemporary world.

In this regard, different forms of drama, songs and music, dance, demonstrative arts and others are making invaluable contributions to Nepal’s unique culture and development of civilization, President Bhandari added.

“Since the ancient times, our ancestors have encouraged us to safeguard arts and cultures by internalizing their importance. Literature, art and music promote the humanitarian aspirations,” she believed.
