Kathmandu, Nov 9: The entrance of the 900 megawatt Arun III hydropower project under construction in Sankhuwasabha has been opened after 70 days. Arun III entryway victims have withdrawn their protest which was closed since last Bhadra 16.
Shivkumar Karki, chief district officer of Sankhuwasabha, said that after the withdrawal of the protest, the construction work of the power house has started.
CDO Karki said that after the amount of compensation was deposited in the account of the district administration, the victims of the entryway withdrew their protest. Janikumar Rai, coordinator of the Struggle Committee, informed that the protest of the Arun III entrance was withdrawn after 70 days.
The struggle committee coordinator Rai said that the protest was withdrawn after the agreement to give compensation. After receiving compensation for 454 ropani land, which was exempted from compensation, the struggle committee withdrew the protest.
The hydropower have been developed by India’s Sutlej Hydropower Corporation.
The meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Kartik 16 decided to distribute compensation within one month.
