Kathmandu, Oct 3: Nepal lost to India by 23 runs in the T20 quarterfinal match held today in Hangzhou, China under Asian cricket.
Chasing a huge target of 203 runs presented by India, Nepal could only score 179 runs by losing 9 wickets. However, Nepal’s performance against India was very commendable.
Dipendra Singh Airee scored the highest 32 runs for Nepal. Similarly, Kushal Bhurtel scored 28, Aasif Seikh 10, Kushal Malla 29, captain Rohit Paudel 3, Sandeep Jora 29, Sompal Kami 7, Gulsan Jha 6, Karan KC scored 18 unbeaten and Sandeep Lamichhane 5.
India’s international players Ravi Bishnoi and Avesh Khan took 3 wickets each. Arshdeep Singh took 2 wickets and Sai Kishore took 1 wicket.
Earlier, after winning the toss, India batted first. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 100 runs for India. He put pressure on Nepal by scoring a century in 49 balls. Besides, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 25 runs, Shivam Dube scored 25 runs and Rinku Singh scored aggresive 37 runs.
Nepali bowler Dipendra Singh Airee took 2 wickets, Sandeep Lamichhane and Sompal Kami took one wicket each.
With this defeat, Nepal is out of the tournament, while India has entered the semi-finals.
