Tanahun, Dec 31: Bandipur recorded a remarkable surge in tourism in 2025, welcoming a total of 634,000 visitors—more than double the number the hill town had initially targeted under the Visit Bandipur Year 2025 campaign.
According to Visit Bandipur Year 2025 Coordinator Bains Bahadur Gurung, around 453,000 tourists, including approximately 100,000 foreign visitors, stayed overnight in Bandipur during the year. Nearly 200,000 additional tourists visited the town on day trips.
Local hotel and tourism entrepreneurs have expressed satisfaction, noting that Bandipur had set a target of attracting 500,000 tourists over two years (2025 and 2026), a goal that was achieved within just one year. “We had aimed to bring in 500,000 tourists in two years, but the target was met in a single year,” Gurung said.
Bandipur Hotel Association President Phulmati Thapa stated that the increased tourist influx has encouraged hotel operators to upgrade services and add new facilities to meet growing demand.
Bandipur Rural Municipality Chair Surendra Bahadur Thapa said Bandipur has emerged as a destination suitable for both budget travelers and high-end tourists, offering diverse experiences at varying price points.
To mark the conclusion of Visit Bandipur Year 2025, a series of cultural programs, including a street food festival, are being organized today.
Currently, more than 80 hotels and around a dozen homestays affiliated with the Hotel Association are operating in and around Bandipur. In addition, a five-star hotel equipped with state-of-the-art facilities is in the final stage of operation.
Bandipur Bazaar, located about eight kilometers from Dumre Bazaar, has become even more accessible with the introduction of a cable car service. The cable car, operating from Thuladhunga to Baralthok, takes visitors to Bandipur in just seven minutes, further boosting the town’s tourism appeal. #nepal #bandipur #tourism
