Bhaktapur, Oct 28 : Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said intra-party betrayal in the by-election would be intolerable and unforgivable.
Speaking at a reception organised by NC district working committee, Bhaktapur at Dudhpati today, he said betrayal like in the previous election would not be acceptable.
“There is no option than to arise above factions and become united in the party,” he said. Describing the upcoming by-elections as a ‘mini mandate’, he urged party cadres in Bhaktapur to work to ensure that the mandate is towards the Nepali Congress.
Bhaktapur district chair of the party Durlav Thapa accused people’s representatives in the district of working with land mafia to become rich, rather than working for the people.
Attempts to tamper democratic rights: Deuba
President Deuba has blamed that though this government was democratically elected, it was trying to tamper democratic rights. The NC President was saying it at a greetings exchange programme organized by the sister wing of the party, Nepal Tarun Dal, here on Sunday.
According to him, time has come for Tarun Dal and student leaderships to protect federal democratic republic and foster national unity.
“Freedom of opinion and speech, right to property, free mobility and right to a dignified life are most important in democracy,” he said, adding that as the sister organization of the party, Tarun Dal had played important role and it should be continued now.
On the occasion, Tarun Dal Chairperson Jitjung Basnet viewed that struggles made NC powerful and its leadership brought constitution in the country.
“Tarun Dal is watchful to protect the rights enshrined by the constitution,” he stressed.
