Biratnagar presents Rs 4.1 billion budget



BIRATNAGAR: The Biratnagar Metropolitan City has presented over Rs 4.1 billion worth of budget for the fiscal year, 2021/22.

The budget presented by deputy mayor of the metropolis Indira Karki includes over Rs 467 million allocated under office operation and administrative expenditures, over Rs 3.5 billion under capital expenditure and Rs 50 million under fiscal management.

Under capital expenditure, over Rs 2.4 billion is expected for infrastructure development, more than 178 million for economic development, Rs 1.26 billion for social development and Rs 93 million for good governance.

The policies and programmes for the FY 2021/22 presented by mayor Bhim Parajuli have accommodated plans to develop Shahid Stadium in Biratnagar as international standard and Hatkhola ground as a sport academy.

The programme to prevent and control COVID-19 will be implemented while providing free ambulance service to pregnant women and senior citizens.

Likewise, the national vaccination campaign will be organised effectively and a 15-bed hospital established at ward 15 and 19.
