Border points should be managed, Home Minister says

Butwal: Minister for Home Affairs Bal Krishna Khand has underscored the need of border point management for security, tourism promotion and better economic activities. He said the government was working to systematize air and border points.

Addressing a programme organised by the five-party alliance in Bhairahawa on Saturday, Minister Khand, who is also the candidate of Nepali Congress (NC) in Rupandehi Constituency No. 5, said the border points need to be managed to prevent activities that could happen against our neighbouring countries from Nepali soil.

Likewise, the Home Minister said the government was committed not to happen any activities against our both neighbouring countries through the use of Nepali soil, while assuring that the government would act cautiously and seriously in coming days.

“Border should be well-managed in order to ensure country’s internal security provision and to prevent any activities that could happen against neighbouring countries by the use of Nepali soil.

The government is working to this area,” Minister Khand said. He added that the tasks of border management will begin immediately after the federal and provincial assembly elections to be conducted on November 20.

The tasks of border management would begin from Belhiya point of Rupandehi, he promised. Similarly, he shared that the government was making diplomatic and political efforts for the construction of the Integrated Check Point (ICP) to be developed in Belahiya.

“We have acquired land for ICP construction from our side. It has been delayed as Indian side has not acquired land for the same,” according to Minister Khand. On the occasion, he also assured to complete the remaining tasks of Belahiya-Butwal trade route within three to four months.

Furthermore, the NC leader said the government was positive towards the undisrupted power supply in Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Rupandehi district and the demands raised by the industrialists and business persons on operation procedure of the industries.
