KATHMANDU: The budget for the coming Fiscal Year 2021/22 is being made public on Saturday at 4 pm.
After the ordinance is issued by President Bidya Devi Bhandari, Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel will make the budget public. The budget will be unveiled from the Prime Minister’s Office at 4 pm, said Bhuvan KC, Press Adviser to the Finance Minister.
A cabinet meeting is being held at 11 am for the final approval.
The government is preparing to bring in a budget of around Rs 1.6 trillion.
The ministry says that there is a constitutional obligation to bring the budget on May 29 even if the parliament is dissolved.
The Prime Minister, members of the Council of Ministers, Vice-Chairman of the National Planning Commission, Governor and others will participate in the program to make the budget public.
The opposition parties and ex officials from various entities have suggested not to come up with populist budget as the government has already announced general election on coming November. However, the government was adamant to bring a full fledged budget.
