Kathmandu, Sept 7: The trial of the case against Nepali national cricket team leg spinner Sandeep Lamichhane has been fixed for today in the Kathmandu District Court.
The rape case against Lamichhane is pending in the Kathmandu District Court. The final debate of the case has been postponed time and again.
A minor girl had filed a complaint against Sandeep, who is also the former captain of the national cricket team, on Bhadra 21 of Nepali year, saying that he had been forced to do so.
However, courts have allowed Sandeep to travel abroad for playing Nepal’s national games. Recently, he had participated in the Asia Cup cricket match played at Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
Sandeep and his team of lawyers have been arguing that the girl was not minor and intentionally he had become a victim of trapping. But, the girl and her lawyers team including government attorneys have been trying to prove their case. Recently, the girl nicknamed as ‘Gaushala 26’ has tried to commit suicide after taking overdose of medicine.
