Kathmandu, Dec 24: Chief Justice Bishwombhar Prasad Shrestha has underscored effective and robust criminal justice system so that it earns public trust.
Addressing a programme organized on the occasion of 73rd anniversary of the Office of Attorney General here Sunday, CJ Shrestha viewed criminal justice system should be clean and convincing. “It is time to modernize criminal justice system. Investigation and prosecution should be ensured quality,” stressed.
International development on investigation and prosecution and the adoption of standard and workforce are equally important aspects, according to him.
The CJ further reminded the justice with compensation which has been internalized by Nepal’s constitution. Attorney’s competence, professional integrity and accountability are other essentials, Shrestha underlined.
On the occasion, Joint Attorney General Hari Prasad Regmi was conferred on the award of ‘Best Attorney, 2080’.
Similarly, former Attorney General Agni Kharel was honoured on the occasion where a special publication was also released.
Kali Prasad Upadhyay was the first attorney general appointed on Poush 8, 2008BS. The day is observed every year.
