Dhangadhi, March 5: The Chief Minister of Sudurpaschim Province, Kamal Bahadur Shah, has received the vote of confidence. In the provincial assembly meeting held on Sunday, Shah secured 41 votes while 11 votes were cast against the motion of confidence.
The votes received by Chief Minister Shah are more than two-thirds of the 53-member provincial assembly.
According to provincial secretariat, Shah received votes 19 from Nepali Congress, 10 from the CPN (Maoist Centre), 7 from Nagarik Unmukti Pary, 4 from CPN (Unified Socialist) and independent MP Tara Joshi.
Shah was appointed Chief Minister on February 9 after Rajendra Singh Rawal, who was appointed Chief Minister with the support of CPN UML, CPN Maoist Centre, Nagarik Unmukti Party and RPP, failed to get a vote of confidence from the provincial assembly.
Earlier today, Prime Minister and Chairman of CPN (Maoist Centre) Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda had directed it’s Members of Provincial Assembly to cast vote in favor of Kamal Bahadur Shah to safeguard the new eight-party alliance.
