China congratulates Nepal on peaceful House of Representatives elections

Kathmandu, March 6: The People’s Republic of China has congratulated Nepal on successfully conducting the elections for the Federal Parliament of Nepal’s House of Representatives.

Speaking at a regular press conference on Friday in Beijing, China’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning said China welcomed the smooth and peaceful conclusion of the elections held in Nepal on March 5.

Responding to a question from media person, she said China was pleased to see Nepal advance its political agenda steadily following the vote, which recorded an estimated 60 percent voter turnout, according to Nepal’s Election Commission.

Mao noted that China values its relations with Nepal as a traditionally friendly neighbour. She said the two countries have supported each other in safeguarding independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity.

China, she added, stands ready to work with Nepal to further strengthen the strategic partnership of cooperation featuring ever-lasting friendship, aimed at promoting development and prosperity in both countries. #nepal #election #china
