China’s Red Cross Society provides cash assistance to quake-hit people



Kathmandu, Nov 18: The Red Cross Society of China provided 100,000 US Dollars emergency humanitarian cash assistance to Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS) for the earthquake-affected people.

Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Chen Song, handed over the amount to Surendra Singh Air, the Acting President of the NRCS.

On the occasion, the Chinese Ambassador pledged to extend additional support to the federal and province governments after receiving the details of the damages caused due to the earthquake happened in Jajarkot and Rukum Paschim districts.

“We stand in solidary with Nepal and will continue to mobilize all possible means to help people rebuild their homes,” Chinese Ambassador Chen wrote a status on social site ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter) on Saturday.

Likewise, Acting President of NRCS Air said that the amount would be used to support the quake hit people, according to the NRCS.

On the occasion, NRCS Acting Secretary-General Manoj Kumar Thapa, Executive Director Umesh Prasad Dhakal and Director of Disaster Management Department Sagar Shrestha were also present.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Communist Party of China (CPC) had also provided relief materials to the Jajarkot earthquake affected people.

The International Department of CPC Central Committee donated relief materials worth Rs 27.4 million to political parties of Nepal.
