Kathmandu, Jan 16: Nepal continues to attract a significant number of Chinese tourists, with 101,879 visitors arriving from China in 2024, according to the Nepal Tourism Board.
A delegation from Sichang, China, led by Lakpa Thnile, President of the Sichang Economic and Trade Association, recently toured Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Pokhara, Chitwan, and Lumbini. The delegation expressed admiration for Nepal’s unique culture and traditions, emphasizing that Nepal holds immense potential as a top destination for Chinese tourists.
During an event in Kathmandu, President Thinle remarked, “Nepal is an excellent destination for tourism. We were deeply impressed by the warmth and hospitality of the Nepali people.”
Amar Shrestha, Director of B-Line Travel Agency, which organized the delegation’s visit, shared efforts to showcase Nepal’s rich heritage. He explained, “We welcomed the Chinese delegation with traditional instruments like Dhime Baaza and cultural dances.”
Shrestha added that such gestures help deepen cultural connections and ensure that visitors carry positive impressions of Nepal upon returning home. “In the short time we had, we demonstrated the principle of Atithi Devo Bhava (guests are like gods) to our guests,” he said.
The event also saw the signing of agreements between three private organizations from Nepal and China, fostering mutual cooperation and a commitment to future collaborations.
Highlighting the cultural richness of the program, Nepal’s renowned folk ensemble Kutumba Band delivered a captivating performance. Known for preserving traditional instruments and melodies, Kutumba enthralled the audience with songs that celebrate Nepal’s unity, patriotism, and cultural heritage, including hits like Maitighar, Sindhuligadhi Ghumera Herda, Kalkatte Kaiyo, among others. #nepal #china #culture #tourism
