KATHMANDU: Director Dins Palpali’s Chiso Ashtray is scheduled to be released in the theatres across Nepal from March 18, a day after the Fagu festival. Director Palpali said that he was releasing the film seven years after he started working on it.
Speaking at a press meet in the capital on Sunday, he said that he started writing the script of the film in 2013, and its shooting had begun in 2015. He said that his movie was influenced by late poet Bhupi Sherchan who had compared Kathmandu with a cold ashtray. He added that they have tried to portray different aspects of Kathmandu in the movie.
The film is a story of a rustic guy who turns into an urban man after staying in Kathmandu for many years. Over the years, he loses his true essence and becomes a city man.
Likewise, producer Mahesh Babu Timalsina said that the shooting of the film had completed in 123 days and coincidently, the film also consists of 123 scenes.
Lead actress of the film Shrishti Shrestha said, “I played a very positive character in the film and have tried to explore the creative aspects of the street of Kathmandu through my character.” She was hopeful that this film would add another brick in her acting career.
Meanwhile, the title song of the film written and sung by Rabin Tamang was released on Friday.
Tamang, who sang many rock songs before starring the film, is now more active in acting than in music.
Some time ago, he played the lead negative role in Hindi series The Last Hour streamed on Amazon Prime, which became popular in India. After a long gap in Nepali film industry, Tamang is reappearing in screen with Chiso Ashtray.
The film produced under the joint banner of Kangaroo Creation and Local Cinema is presented by Mahesh Babu Timalsina.
Actors Dibya Dev, Nabin Lamsal, Nikun Shrestha, Sushil Raj Pandey, Rabin Tamang and Shrishti Shrestha have done the film.
