Siraha, May 15: Speakers at a programme organized by the National Vigilance Centre in Siraha district said that collective efforts and accountability were required to maintain good governance.
They viewed that reforms in bureaucracy and effective coordination among people’s representatives were key elements for good governance.
On the occasion, Chairman of the District Coordination Committee Dinesh Kumar Mahato called for reforms in the working styles among the chiefs of the institutions and collective efforts of all stakeholders.
Mayor of Lahan Municipality Mahesh Prasad Chaudhary stated that administrative instability has marred public service delivery, resulting in obstacles to good governance.
Mayor of Dhangadhimai Municipality Shiva Shankar Mahato argued that the management of the contract-based officials at local governments was a serious issue for them. This is not only an economic burden, but such officials lack moral responsibility, he added.
Mayor of Golbazaar Municipality Shyam Kumar Shrestha, Chairman of Patari Rural Municipality Chaturananda Thakur and Chief District Officer Surendra Paudel pointed out the gap in coordination among different bodies of the state in ensuring good governance.
Joint Secretary at the Centre, Narayan Prasad Bhatta, shared about the performance of the oversight agencies and added that all government bodies should be equally responsible for the cause of good governance. #nepal #rss
