Congress announces agitation against dissolution of parliament

KATHMANDU: The main opposition Nepali Congress has also announced agitation programs against the dissolution of the parliament.

The meeting of the Central Working Committee of Nepali Congress held at the Head Office at Sanepa decided to organize nationwide protest program.

According Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Poudel, Congress has decided to hold protests in 330 State Constituencies on January 9, 753 towns and villages on January 16 and 6,743 Ward level protest on January 21.

The Congress has instructed the fraternal and well-wishers and the district working committees to organize street struggle programs without interfering with the Centre’s program.

The Nepali Congress was undecided over the dissolution of the parliament. A section of leaders, particularly Ram Chandra Poudel, were exerting pressure on party President Sher Bahadur Deuba to denounce the untimely dissolution of House of Representatives.

Issuing a press release today, Congress has reiterated that the Prime Minister KP Oli’s decision to dissolve House was autocratic, undemocratic and unconstitutional.

The decision to dissolve House was merely motivated to conceal rampant corruption, failing to control and manage COVID-19, misrule, the Congress says.
