Congress leader Bhandari taken to India for further treatment

Kathmandu, Feb 16: Nepali Congress leader and member of the House of Representatives, Dr. Chandra Bhandari, who was injured in an LPG gas cylinder explosion on Wednesday night, has been taken to India for further treatment.

Congress General Secretary Bishwo Prakash Sharma informed that he was taken to the National Skin Burn Center in Mumbai, India for further treatment by Shree Airlines. He was taken there along with a team of doctors after he was not able to receive proper treatment in Nepal.

Leader Dr. Bhandari, who was injured last night, was earlier treated at Kirtipur Burn Hospital in Kirtipur. The hospital issued a statement today, as it was seen that his proper treatment in Nepal would not be easy with the available facilities and resources, so he has been transferred (recommended) to a well-equipped health institution outside the country as soon as possible.

MP Dr. Bhandari and his mother Harikala Bhandari were injured when a gas cylinder exploded in their residence. Mother Harikala died in the morning during treatment. According to the hospital, leader Dr. Bhandari has 25-30 percent burns on both his hands and knees. He has also inhaled toxic gas that has created his health condition further critical.
