Congress MP Sunil Sharma released from CIB custody

Kathmandu, Aug 11: Nepali Congress MP Sunil Sharma has been released from the custody of Nepal Police’s Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) today evening.

The Kathmandu District Court had issued an order not to detain Sharma. Coming out of the custody, Sharma thanked Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda and Home Minister Narayankaji Shrestha for taking him in custody on an unverified case. He said the government’s intention was bad and malicious.

MP Sharma was arrested by CIB on Thursday in the fake education certificate case. Apart from Sharma, five other doctors who were arrested in the said case have been given 5 and 7 days.

Sharma was critical on Minister for Home Affairs Narayankaji Shrestha and Finance Minister Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat who failed to control gold smuggling from Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. He even demanded to immediately resign Shrestha and Mahat after they failed to control the smuggling.

The Revenue Investigation Department had confiscated illegally imported 100-kgs of gold from outside of the airport custom office.
