Congress suspends five including former MP Bhim Bahadur Shrestha

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) has suspended it’s five leaders and cadres, including a former parliamentarian from Chitwan, for working against the party’s constitution and discipline in the local elections.

Acting Chief Secretary of the party’s central office Dr Pradip Parajuli informed that former MP of Chitwan-based Bharatpur-1 Bhim Bahadur Shrestha has been suspended.

According to him, former central member of Nepal Tarun Dal of Bharatpur-4 Shambhu Prasad Aryal, regional representative of Bharatpur-16 Surya Basnet, former district secretary of Bharatpur-2 Tarun Dal Ananda Raj Raut and active member of Bharatpur-8 Dr. Keshav Poudel has been suspended from the party.

Earlier, the party had suspended Jagannath Poudel, a rebel candidate for mayor from Bharatpur Metropolitan City in the local level election. Poudel had fielded an independent candidate against Renu Dahal, who had been nominated for the post of mayor by the CPN (Maoist Center) from a five-party alliance.
