Constitution amendment need of hour: PM Oli

Kathmandu, Aug 4: Prime Minister and Chair of CPN (UML) KP Sharma Oli has said that the current power equation with the Nepali Congress and UML, who fought for democracy, will amend the constitution thinking over political stability in the country.

In a program held today at the party’s central office, Chyasal for the swearing-in of the recently nominated vice-chair and central members of the CPN (UML), Prime Minister Oli said that there was an attempt to spread the illusion that he was trying to bring about regression by amending the constitution, and said that the constitution is an amendable document according to the needs of the country and the people.

“To strengthen democracy, to increase acceptance and acceptability of the constitution, to find more bases for development and prosperity and to be united with the people,” Prime Minister Oli said, “The constitution is not an unamendable subject like a religious text. We are thinking of amending the constitution keeping in mind the human-centered issue.”

Prime Minister Oli emphasized that politics should be for the people on the basis of fair competition and that the leaders and workers of UML should be soft and accountable to the people.

He clarified that UML is the right party to lead the country ideologically and organizationally. #uml
