Construction of Gautam Buddha Cricket Stadium begins

Chitwan, Aug 11: Bharatpur Metropolitan City (BMC) has started the construction of much hyped Gautam Budhha International Cricket Stadium at Bharatpur-15 in collaboration with the state and central government.

According to Santosh Acharya, the head of the urban infrastructure department of the metropolitan city, the stone soling works under the parapet has started. The local material used in the construction is being tested in the laboratory of the metropolitan city, and the iron rod has been sent to Kathmandu for laboratory testing. He said, “The technicians and employees of the construction company have started working in the field.”

Meanwhile, Renu Dahal, Mayor of Bharatpur Metropolitan City, requested the head of the company and the technician to complete the work within the stipulated time and has expressed commitment to provide all possible support on behalf of the municipality. Also, she has instructed the employees to facilitate to solving any problem immediately. She said that the Metropolitan City will set up an office at the construction site to facilitate the construction.

According to Engineer Jagannath Aryal, Deputy Director of the BMC, the ground will be prepared with a parapet that can accommodate 10,000 spectators. The cost of construction of the stadium is about Rs. 755 million. An agreement has been reached to complete the construction by 22 Poush 2083 BS.

In the current financial year, the federal government has allocated a budget of Rs. 250 million and the Bharatpur Metropolitan City has allocated a budget of Rs. 48 million. The Bagmati state government has agreed to bear 70% of the total contract amount.

The Dhurmas Suntali Foundation, which initially started the construction of the stadium, has already prepared a parapet that can accommodate five thousand people. Two hundred and eighty six pillars have been erected for that purpose. The total area of the stadium will be around 20 bigha 19 kathtta land. #cricket
