Corruption case of Rs 1.33 billion filed against three persons

KATHMANDU: The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a corruption case against the then Director General of the Inland Revenue Department Chudamani Sharma Dhakal and three other officials of the Tax Settlement Commission.

Spokesperson at CIAA Narayan Prasad Risal said that the authorities had filed a chargesheet in the Special Court on Wednesday against three persons including Sharma for leaking Rs 1.33 billion.

According to him, a corruption case has been filed against the then chairman of the Tax Settlement Commission Lumbadhwaj Mahat, members Umesh Prasad Dhakal and member Sharma on the charge of giving tax exemption of Rs 1.33 billion against the law.

CIAA has claimed that it has found evidences with proof of tax evasion from Mahat, Dhakal and Sharma.
