Country records 2,936 new cases of COVID-19 in 24 hours

KATHMANDU: The country recorded a total of 2,936 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.

The new cases were detected from 9,613 PCR tests and 4,569 antigen tests conducted during the same period, the Ministry said in its routine press meet.

Similarly, 43 people succumbed to the deadly infection in a day, taking the death toll from the Coronavirus infection to 9,506.

Likewise, 1,757 COVID-19 infected persons enjoyed recovery in the past 24 hours. With this, the number of people recovering from the flu-like infection reaches 628,243 in total as of now.

The recovery rate stands at 94.5 per cent, said the Ministry.

Meanwhile, 24,274 COVID-19 patients were currently availing treatment in home-isolation while 2,553 in the institutional isolation facilities.

There are currently 578 patients at ICU and 174 in ventilator support all over the country, the Ministry added.
