COVID-19: 1,476 new cases in past 24 hours

KATHMANDU: A total of 1,476 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the country in the past 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.

The Ministry, in its routine virtual press meet, informed that the new cases were confirmed from the 15,690 tests conducted during the same period.

There are currently 20,287 active cases in the country. The infection rate stands at 19 per cent.

Among the infected ones, 347 have been receiving treatment in ICU, 105 in ventilators, 18,969 in home-isolations and 1,318 in institutional isolations. Altogether, 244 are in quarantine facilities.

There are nine districts having more than 500 active cases of coronavirus infection. They are Morang, Sunsari, Jhapa, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Makawanpur, Kaski and Rupandehi.

Similarly, 20 districts in the country have over 200 active cases of COVID-19, the Minister said.

A total of 1,550 COVID-19 patients have enjoyed recovery in the past 24 hours. With this, the recovery caseload stands at 758,504. The recovery rate is 96.3 per cent.

Likewise, nine people have succumbed to the contagion in the last 24 hours. This takes the fatality caseload to 11,081 till date.

Meanwhile, 172,590 people received the vaccine against the deadly infection on Friday alone.

The number of people receiving the first dose of vaccine stands at 6,380,586 while 5,946,022 have been fully vaccinated so far, shared the Ministry.
