COVID-19: 1,664 new cases recorded, contagion claims 20

KATHMANDU: As many as 1,664 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus infection in the country in the last 24 hours.

According to the updates provided by the Ministry of Health and Population, the intraday infection was detected while undertaking tests among 12,222, including RT-PCR on 9,117 and Antigen on 3,105.

Among them, 1,523 were diagnosed with COVID through RT-PCR test and 141 through Antigen test. Number of active infected has reached 35,591. So far 20 districts are having over 500 infected population.

Likewise, 1,786 infected have recovered and returned home after treatment today. So far, 716,306 have discharged from the hospitals after recovery. The recovery rate is 93.9 percent in Nepal.

In the last 24 hours, 20 infected have succumbed to COVID-19. As of now, 10,750 infected have lost their lives to the contagion. Currently, 637 infected are being treated at ICU and 164 with ventilator support.

Similarly, 33,214 are in home isolation, 2,377 on institutional isolation and 329 in quarantine.
