KATHMANDU: The coronavirus infection has been confirmed in 2,421 people in the last 24 hours.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), the health system had performed 7,461 RT-PCR tests and 4,953 antigen tests.
A further 81 people died from the COVID-19 infection, said spokesman Krishna Poudel at MoHP. Of these, 52 have died in the last 24 hours. He said the remaining 29 deaths were not included in the previous statistics. The highest number of people so far have died from the 60 and above years of age group.
The ministry informs that 4,747 people have died from 60 and above age group, while 1,757 from 50-59, 1310 from 40-49, 742 from 30-39, 257 from 20-29, 44 from 10-19 and 38 from 0-9 years of age group.
In the last 24 hours, 3558 people have so far recovered. The number of active infected people across the country is 50,520. Out of which 47,246 are in home isolation and 3,234 are in institutional isolation. A total of 734 people are in ICUs and 213 in ventilators, the ministry says.
In the last 24 hours, 497 people have been found infected in Kathmandu Valley. Of them, 346 are in Kathmandu district, 97 in Lalitpur and 57 in Bhaktapur, the ministry said in a regular press briefing.
A total of 2,500,196 people have received first dose of vaccine while 731,653 have received second dose.
Meanwhile, Association of International NGOs in Nepal handed over medical equipments of worth Rs. 98,026,660 to Government of Nepal.
