KATHMANDU: A total of 270 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the past 24 hours in the country.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, with this, total infected number has reached 269,450 so far in the country in which 175,178 are male and 94,272 are female. Province wise, the Bagmati remained the most vulnerable where more than 140,000 people got infected.
Ministry further shared that 403 infected persons have recovered in the same period.
With this, total recovery has reached 264,137 till today. There are 3, 312 are active cases of the infection across the country.
In the past 24 hours, four new infections were reported in Province 1,186 in Bagmati Province, 22 in Gandaki Province and 52 in Lumbini Province.
While Kathmandu has more than 500 active cases, Bhojpur, Kalikot, Rukum (West) and Mugu districts do not have any active cases, according to the ministry.
While 139 individuals infected with the virus are being treated in intensive care units across the country, 23 others—14 in Bagmati Province, six in Gandaki and three in Lumbini—are on ventilator support.
The Ministry further confirmed that seven infected patients died of the infection in the past 24 hours. Total deaths caused by the infection have reached 2,001 in the country which is 0.74% of the total infection. Similarly, the total recovered from COVID-19 stants at 98.03 percent, which is higher than India.
The government has carried out 20,43,255 sample RT-PCR test. People complain that the government has lowered the testing and tracking of the coronavirus in recent times.
The data available from the Ministry show that a total infected of around 140,000 people were between the age group of 21-40.
According to health experts, the continuous protest rallies across the country may ignite another round of COVID infection in the country. However, the political parties remain reluctant for people’s gathering, and they are open for free assemblies.
Even, the Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has intensified public gatherings in recent days where the participants rarely follow COVID-related rules, regulations or guidelines.
