COVID-19: 6,570 people recover with 5,153 new cases in 24 hours



KATHMANDU: Coronavirus has been confirmed on 5,153 more people in the last 24 hours across the country. According to Ministry of Health and Population, the new cases were revealed in a total of 17,676 tests carried out, including 1,2605 RT-PCR test and 5,611 antigen test.

With this, the total number of infections has reached 595,364 through RT-PCR and 15,944 through antigen tests. The total number of active cases include 76,550 people in home isolation, 6,186 in institutional isolation, 1,371 in ICU and 372 with ventilator support.

Similarly, 6,570 people have recovered from the virus during the same period, taking the number of people recovering from the virus to 504,530. The recovery rate has now climbed to 84.7 per cent.

Meanwhile, 108 more people succumbed to COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. The number of people who have died from COVID-19 has reached 8,098.The fatality rate stands at 1.6 per cent.

The positivity rate stands at 18.8 per cent while the total death per million is 277.9.

The highest number of people from the 21-30 age group have been found infected with the virus in last 24 hours, which is 885, followed by the age group of 31-40 at 862.

In Kathmandu Valley the total number of active case stands at 11,423, 3454, and 4501 for Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Laltipur respectively.

There are still 1,321 people in ICUs and 372 in ventilator across the country.

According to the Ministry, the total number of people vaccinated against COVID-19 has reached 2,113,080 who have had the first dose and 691,494 with the second dose as well.

The government has started new vaccination from today for the people aged 60-64 years. The government is providing them Sinopharm’s vero-cell vaccine which the government of China donated.
