COVID-19: 9238 new cases with 4,444 recovered, 168 died with infection



KATHMANDU: A total of 9,238 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the past 24 hours across the country. This was revealed in a total of 20,362 RT-PCR tests and 424 Antigen tests done in various laboratories.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), during the period a total of 4,444 people recovered.

However, 168 people lost their lives. This takes the total number of positive cases to 422,349 and fatalities to 4,252. The total recoveries have reached 316,463 with a recovery rate of 74.9 per cent.

Presently, 101,634 people are in isolation with Kathmandu constituting 30,588 of them followed by 4,614 in Bhaktapur and 6,716 in Lalitpur. Among the age group of active cases, people between 30 to 39 years old are the highest with 2,206 followed by 1,992 in the 20-29 age group and 1,732 in 40-49 age group.

Of them, 94,343 people are in home isolation while 7,291 are in institutional isolation. Furthermore, 1,241 patients are in ICU while 285 infected are in ventilator support.

The data of infection and fatalities so far shows a positivity rate of 15.7 per cent and case fatality rate of 1.3 per cent. Total death per million is 145.9.

However, many people have been facing hardship to get oxygen, beds and admission in ICUs or ventilators. Many private hospitals have published notices to not able admitting new COVID-19 patients due to regular supply of oxygen.
