KATHMANDU: The coronavirus infection has been confirmed in 2,299 people in the last 24 hours.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, the RT-PCR test on 6,566 people confirmed the infection in 1,391 people while Antigen test on 4,030 people confired in 908.
Likewise, the total number of COVID-19 infections in Nepal has reached 642,961. The number of active infected people is 29,274.
In the last 24 hours, 3451 people have recovered or discharged from different treatment centres across Nepal. However, thirty-four people have died due to COVID-19 infection. The death toll with COVID-19 has reached 9,179.
The number of people living in isolation centres have been gradually declining. Now, a total of 26,336 people are in home isolation and 2,938 in institutional isolation. Likewise, 632 people have been admitted in ICUs and 181 in ventilators for further treatment across the country.
According to the ministry, 2,604,866 have received first dose of vaccine while 757,635 received second dose.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has indicated that the government of Nepal is purchasing a significant number of vaccines and it would arrive in Nepal within days. The government has ordered Nepal Airlines to be ready to deliver vaccine from China.
The government has already received 1.8 million doses of Sinopharm’s Vero Cell vaccine as donation from the people of China.
According to the Ministry, the highest number of coronavirus infections has been reported in Kathmandu (316), Jhapa (86), Lalitpur (78), Sunsari (73), Kaski (64), Chitwan (53), Dhading (52), Nawalparasi East and Doti (39/39).
There are 37/37 infected people in Saptari and Gulmi, 36 in Nuwakot, 34 in Bhaktapur, 30 in Kavrepalanchok, 29/29 in Morang and Makwanpur, 28 in Rupandehi, 25 in Tanahu, 24 in Kapilvastu, 23 in Palpa and 21 in Lamjung.
Similarly, 19 people have contracted coronavirus in Kailali, 16 in Dailekh, 14 in Dhanusha, Dang and Surkhet, 12 in Mahottari and 10 in Rasuwa.
According to the Ministry, COVID-19 infection has been confirmed in 56 children under the age of 10 and in 102 people in the age group of 11 to 20 years.
