COVID-19: Country registers 2,407 new cases in 24 hrs



KATHMANDU: A total of 2,407 new cases of COVID-19 infection were registered in the country in the past 24 hours.

Similarly, six hundred and fifty three new cases were registered in Kathmandu valley alone on Sunday.

According to Ministry of Health and Population, altogether 3,994 infected patients have recovered in the same period in the country.

Ministry confirmed that 46 new deaths caused by the virus infection were recorded in the past 24 hours across the country. With this, the total death toll caused due to COVID-19 reached 8,412 in Nepal.

The Ministry said that there are 68,955 active cases of virus infection in the country.

A total of 691,494 so far received second dose of vaccine while 2,383,098 have received first dose.

There remain 1,100 people admitted in ICUs and 347 in ventilators across the country.

Meanwhile, European Union member states – Slovenia, Austria and Malta – handed over 30, 000 face masks, 100,000 nitrile gloves, 12,500 protective goggles, 100,000 protective masks, 600,000 Non-sterile medical masks, 50,000 FFP2 masks, 1000 pulse oximeters, 2,400 antigen tests, 5,000 face shields.
