COVID-19: Death toll surpasses 10,000 in Nepal

KATHMANDU: With the spread of COVID-19 pandemic, Nepal’s death toll crossed 10,000 on Friday, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.

The total number of deaths caused due to COVID-19 as of August 6 is 10,019. Nepal had reported its first COVID-19 death on May 16, 2020.

The Ministry on Friday said that the country reported 25 deaths and 3,729 new cases of the coronavirus in the past 24 hours.

Similarly, 1,885 people enjoyed full recovery in the past 24 hours.

The Ministry stated that a total of 710,509 cases were confirmed through the RT-PCR tests while 67,080 cases were detected through the antigen tests in the country while 665,548 infected people got recovered so far.

In the past 24 hours, the Kathmandu Valley witnessed altogether 701 new cases including 471 in Kathmandu, 147 in Lalitpur and 83 in Bhaktapur district.

Likewise, the Ministry said that 732 people are receiving treatment in ICU beds across the country while the number of people in ventilators is 158.
