KATHMANDU: The coronavirus infection has been confirmed in 1,688 people across the country in 24 hours.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 7,010 RT-PCR tests conducted in different districts have confirmed COVID-19 in 1,688 people. Similarly, 4,686 antigen tests showed COVID-19 infection in 713 people.
Likewise, the number of coronavirus appearing in RT-PCR tests in Nepal has reached 619,635.
Similarly, 3,660 COVID-19 infections have been recovered in 24 hours. The total number of recovered people has reached 553,342.
According to the ministry, another 34 people have lost their lives across the country in 24 hours, totalling the death toll 8,675.
The number of active infected is 57,618, out of which 53,733 are at home isolation and 3,885 in institutional isolation. A total of 874 patients have been admitted in ICUs and 254 in ventilators across the country. Most of the ICU and ventilator patients are at Bagmati province.
The vaccination program has also continued despite vaccine shortages. A total of 2,500,196 people have so far received first dose of vaccine and 731,653 received second dose as well.
The government is desperately waiting for the more vaccines from friendly countries and COVAX mechanism. An age group of 60 and above people have been waiting for more than 4 months for their second dose of vaccine who received Covishield vaccine.
