KATHMANDU: CPN (Maoist Centre) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has inaugurated the Eighth national General Convention at the Nepal Academy Hall, Kamaladi here today.

Chairman Prachanda declared the general convention open by lighting Panas butter-lamp. The theme of the general convention is – “CPN (Maoist Centre)’s First Historic National Conference for Building New Revolutionary Thought and Revolutionary Party.”

The CPN (Maoist Centre) has organized its general convention coinciding with the 129th Memorial Day of the leader of the Communist Party of China, Mao Tse-tung.

Chairman Prachanda garlanded a portrait of the Chinese revolutionary leader Mao on the occasion.

A group of women played the Panchebaja (an ensemble of five traditional Nepali musical instruments) along with various other presentations at the inaugural ceremony.

The Nepal Academy hall is packed and arrangements have been made to watch the proceedings on the stage on big display boards installed outside at the Academy premises.
