KATHMANDU: The CPN (UML) has withdrawn its action against four leaders. A meeting held at the PM’s residence in Baluwatar decided to withdraw the action taken against Madhav Kumar Nepal, Bhim Rawal, Ghanshyam Bhusal and Surendra Pandey.

Standing committee member Bishnu Rimal informed that the decision was taken keeping in mind the party unity.

After CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli decided to amend the party statute by holding a meeting of the leaders close to KP Sharma Oli on March 12, adding central members and taking away the responsibility of the leaders of the Madhav Nepal faction, the Nepal faction convened a meeting of national cadres on 17/18 April.

A meeting of the central committee of the Oli faction had sought clarification from the four leaders. They were suspended from the party for six months saying that the answer given by the leaders was not satisfactory.

It’s a positive step for party unity: Yogesh

Nepal group leader Yogesh Bhattarai said the withdrawal of action against leaders was a positive step towards party unity.

“It was a mistake to take action. The mistake has been rectified,” Bhattarai said in a tweet. “However, it should be considered a positive step.”
