Kathmandu, Oct 23: The CPN (UML) District Committee Lalitpur has urged Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to restore normalcy to the lives affected by the floods, landslides, and inundation in the district.
The district committee today submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister at his official residence in Baluwatar, acknowledging the government’s immediate efforts in search, rescue, and relief following the monsoon-related disasters.
They requested the government to now focus on repairing and reopening key infrastructure like highways, main roads, electricity, and communication lines connected to Lalitpur.
According to the district committee president, Purushottam Acharya, 46 people have died, five are missing, 18 are undergoing treatment, and more than 212 families have been displaced due to the natural disaster in the district. He called for an allocation of at least Rs. 3 billion for the reconstruction efforts in Lalitpur.
After receiving the memorandum, Prime Minister Oli assured that the government has been carrying out effective search, rescue, relief, and rehabilitation efforts. He mentioned that the government has also begun releasing funds for the second tranche of compensation to those affected by last year’s Jajarkot earthquake. He emphasized that criticism of non-existent flaws and spreading false propaganda should be avoided.
