Dhakal urges all political parties to have a common vision on economic agenda

KATHMANDU: Senior Vice President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Mr Chandra Prasad Dhakal, has said that all political parties should have a common vision on the economic agenda of the country.

Addressing the annual general meeting of the Butwal Chamber of Commerce and Industry held in Butwal on Monday, Dhakal, who is also the acting president of the FNCCI, said that all political parties need a common view to revive the country’s economy.

“The economy is slowly recovering. There is no alternative but to revive it quickly,” he said. “It requires the uniform vision and support from all political parties.”

Speaking about the emergence of new Omicron varient of the coronavirus, he suggested to continue the businesses with care.

Stating that Lumbini is the religious, cultural and tourist center of the country, he said that cities like Bhairahawa and Butwal of the region are gradually developing as economic hub of the country.

He said that tourist destinations including cable cars were being constructed in all the seven states with the investment of IME Group and cooperation would be extended to local industrialists, businessmen and general public in such projects.

“We are going to build tourist destinations including cable cars in all the seven provinces. One of these projects is also in Butwal. Such projects will have partnership and cooperation with local industrialists, businessmen and general public,” he said.

Stating that the Covid pandemic has not only added challenges to the country, it has also opened the door to new opportunities, he said. “The pandemic of Covid-19 has not only added challenges, it has opened the door to new opportunities. This crisis has forced all of us to accelerate the pace of building a digital economy. The use of digital technology and platforms in e-commerce, e-business, production and marketing of services and goods have increased,” he said.
