Discount on capital gain tax in compensating along Kathmandu-Tarai expressway

Kathmandu, Sept 1: The government has decided to provide discount on capital gain tax while providing compensation to the lands to be acquired for the Kathmandu –Tarai expressway, a national pride project.

The government made such decision as per section 18 (1) of Financial Act, 2081 during a Cabinet meeting held on August 29.

Minister for Communications and Information Technology and government spokesperson, Prithvi Subba Gurung, informed that 5.104 hectares of land belonging to the national forest in Bidur Municipality, Nuwakot would be allowed for use in the construction of Pipaltar-Deudi roadway.

Grant assistance accepted

It was decided in the meeting to accept some Rs 3.67 billion grant assistance to be provided by EU and UNESCO for the implementation of third phase of multi-sectoral nutrition project aid programme, while some Rs 1.46 billion to be provided by German government for the strengthening of electricity distribution, the Minister added.

Bindabasini Kansakar, a victim of murder attempt, would be provided the treatment cost as per court decision. The amount for this would be recovered from the defendant and reimbursed in the victims’ relief fund.

Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Thapaliya has been permitted to take part in a programme organized by the International Foundation for Electoral System in Singapore from 24 to 26 September.

Similarly, a visit of the Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary has been approved by the Cabinet. The Minister would attend the 82nd anniversary event of the Asian-African Legal Consultative Organization scheduled in Bangkok from 9 to 13 September.

The Minister for Health and Population has been permitted for a participation in a programme scheduled for September 26 in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Transfers, appointments

Eknarayan Aryal, the Home Secretary, has been appointed the Chief Secretary of Nepal government. Aryal was appointed Chief Secretary after the Chief Secretary Leela Devi Gartaula got retirement on age limit on August 31.

The government approved the resignation tendered by Secretary at the National Planning Commission (NPC), Dr Toya Narayan Gwayali.

The Cabinet made transfers of Additional Inspectors General of the Armed Police Force.

Joint Secretary Bharat Khanal has been appointed General Consul in Guangzhou, Jhakka Prasad Acharya in Kolkatta, Laxmi Prasad Niraula in Lhasa.

Dinesh Raj Dahal (DC) has been appointed as Chairman of the Film Development Board.

The central office of the Yogmaya Ayurved University would be set up at Khandbari municipality of Sankhuwasabha district, for which three hectares of land would be allowed for its use.

Ncell permission for license renewal

NCell Axiata Ltd has been permitted for its renewal in installment for the third time. The renewal in installment was provided as per Section 20 of the Telecommunications Act, 2053.

With this, the renewal fee of Rs 5 billion per year would be paid in four installments. However, the installment scheme incurs 10 percent interest.

The organization and management for the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock and some temporary quota for the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security have been approved by the Cabinet. #cabinet #nepal
