DoFE directs removal of misleading materials aimed at foreign employment aspirants

Kathmandu, April 10: The Department of Foreign Employment has instructed all concerned individuals and organizations to remove misleading signboards, hoarding boards, flex banners, and wall notices targeting individuals seeking foreign employment.

In a notice issued on Friday, the Department directed that such materials be taken down within three days. It warned that flouting the order will be punishable under the Foreign Employment Act, 2064 BS, as well as other prevailing laws.

The Department said that all activities related to labour permits are officially handled only by the Department itself and designated Labour and Employment Offices. It has therefore urged an immediate halt to the use of misleading advertisements and publicity materials.

According to the notice, the Department has received complaints that certain cyber centers, training institutes, and other establishments around its office premises and other areas have been misleading service seekers. These institutions are allegedly attracting applicants for foreign employment, charging fees, or acting as unauthorized intermediaries.

It further noted that some of these centers display claims such as “labour permits are processed here,” “labour-related services available,” or “online labour application forms filled here,” which the Department has described as misleading and unauthorized. #nepal #rss
