Kathmandu, March 10: Newly-appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health and Population, Upendra Yadav, has assumed office at the Ministry after taking oath of office and secrecy from the President today.
On the occasion, he signed on his first decision related to making arrangement for removing the delay in the surgical services seen at the federal and provincial hospitals, and making the services prompt.
He also made a decision of making the digital technology more effective to alleviate the inconvenience of staying in queue for long time for accessing health services. “The compulsion of patients having to stay in long lines to access medical services should end. We will make arrangements enabling the patients to make appointment from their home through online and digital technology. We will enhance the capacity of the government health institutions, providing quality health services,” said the DPM and Health Minister.
Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Nepal’s Chair Yadav was elected to the House of Representatives (HoR) in the by-election (April 23, 2023) from the Bara constituency-2. Prior to this, he was the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister for Health and Population in 2075 BS.
Likewise, newly-appointed Minister for Forests and Environment, Nawal Kishor Sah Sudi, has taken charge of his post.
He assumed his office at the Ministry of Forests and Environment in Singha Durbar after taking oath of office and secrecy before the President Ramchandra Paudel at the Office of the President, Shital Niwas, earlier today.
On the occasion, high officials of the Ministry and departments and bodies under it, including Secretary Dr Deepak Kumar Kharal, welcomed Minister Sudi at the Ministry.
Minister Sudi said he would carry forward the works at the Ministry after consulting and discussing with all employees at the Ministry and departments under it.
“We will take ahead the works of the Ministry seeking opinions, advice from all the stakeholders as to how the forestry sector could be developed and prosperity achieved for the country through this sector,” he said.
The newly-appointed Minister on the occasion asserted that he would focus his attention to fulfilling the livelihood needs of the local people and creating employment opportunities through the forests which cover around 45 percent of the country’s total area.
While assuming office, he signed on the first decision of assigning Coordination Officer for the coordination between the Federal Forests Ministry and the forests ministries of all the seven provinces.
Accordingly, Joint-Secretaries at the Federal Forests Ministry, Badri Raj Dhungana, Nawaraj Pudasaini, Rajendra KC, Dr Maheshwar Dhakal, Dr Buddhi Sagar Paoudel, Mohandev Joshi and Shiva Kumar Wagley have been assigned the Coordination Officer for Koshi province, Madhes province, Bagmati province, Gandaki province, Lumbini province, Karnali province and Sudurpaschim province respectively.
Minister Sudi was elected to the House of Representatives from Saptari election constituency no 1 in the election for the HoR Member held in November 2022. #Nepal
