Dhangadhi: Agitating Dr Govinda KC, who has been staging hunger strike in Dhangadhi for nine days, denied the request for Kathmandu travel for treatment despite deteriorating health condition.
KC who is receiving treatment at Seti Provincial Hospital, Dhagadhi, due to worsening health after hunger strike, was requested to fly to Kathmandu in a sky truck of Nepal Army, but he rebuffed, according to Chief District Officer, Kiran Thapa.
“His health must be restored. However, he is insisting on not flying to Kathmandu,” Thapa added.
He had been staging hunger strike at Git Satsang Building in Dhangadhi, demanding reforms in medical education. It is his 20th agitation with this demand.
Dr KC was admitted to the Provincial Hospital after he witnessed health problems. Physician Dr Sher Bahadur Kamar informed that Dr KC was facing difficulty in breathing, headache, giddiness, increased heartbeat, weight loss, fatigue.
Similarly, he lost blood sugar, nutrients and water, which could result in grave threat to life, the hospital said, recommending for his transfer to better health facility.
