Economist Swarnim Wagle left Nepali Congress

Kathmandu, March 30: Youth leader and renowned economist Dr Swarnim Wagle has announced of separating from Nepali Congress party.

He has posted a status on Facebook and Twitter today regarding his separation from Congress where he has showed displeasure over the cronies of Nepali Congress including President Sher Bahadur Deuba.

He has said, “I have decided to separate from the Nepali Congress Party, which has been associated with my involvement since the ‘Satyagraha’ of 2042 BS and the Jan Andolan (People’s Uprising) of 2046 BS and the family legacy of 50 years.”

He has further said, “Within that party, indirectly for 30 years and directly for the last 10 years, I contributed significantly to economic policy and planning, intellectual-theoretical discussion and training, and expansion of international legitimacy. I am especially proud that both Sushil Koirala and Sher Bahadur Deuba in the Planning Commission have been able to uphold the honor of the country by carrying out their responsibilities with skill. But in recent years, every self-respecting Congressman who has observed the activities within the Congress party has bowed his head. The historic team of Jananayak BP Koirala, Ganeshman Singh, Subarna Shumsher and Kishunji is now turning into an incompetent family clique.”

“Now the good people of Congress-Communist, supporters of freedom and development who are not affiliated to the party, Nepalis who are outside the periphery of elite politics, and Nepalis who remember the good of Nepal even if they live abroad, should build a strong alternative democratic force”, he has requested.

“I will be active in a new public role with the beginning of 2080, carrying the agenda of clean democracy and economic progress on the foundation of good governance. It is to create the hope by breaking the general despair” he said.

It is rumour in public domain that he will be joining in Rabi-led Rastriya Swatantra Party and contesting by-election on Tanahu or Chitwan.

However he has not disclosed his intention to join other parties or form a separate political force.
