Kathmandu, July 24: Home Minister Sudhan Gurung said the government had advanced measures to address the problems occurred on border.
He said issues on the southern border were identified through a field study and a comprehensive operation.
In his address to a meeting of the Committee on Federalism Enablement and National Concerns of the National Assembly on Friday, the Minister made it clear that the government made maximum efforts to sort out the border issues.
According to the Minister, he himself involved in the operation aimed at finding out the issues faced by the people living along the border areas including in the Madhesh and Sudur Paschim Provinces. The issues have been identified, and efforts are now focused on addressing the challenges along the open border.
He also stressed the need to ensure necessary resources for the effective mobilization of security forces deputed along the border. The Minister underlined the need for better equipping the security workforce before their mobilization.
Minister Gurung, however, informed that the budget for the current fiscal aims to enrich the police force with resources. The Ministry is making preparations for fixing the border monitoring and inspection system assisted by advanced technology including infrared drone camera.
During the meeting, Inspector General of Nepal Police, Dan Bahadur Karki, Inspector General of the Armed Police Force, Narayan Dutta Poudyal, and others shared about security initiatives undertaken against trans-border smuggling along the open border areas.
During the discussion, the upper House members drew the attention of Home Minister and the security agencies to the encroachment on Nepali territory including in Susta allegedly by the Seema Suraksha Bal (SSB) of India.
They also raised their concerns on problems faced by the people on the border area while bringing daily necessities, and while bringing chemical fertilizers from the Indian markets. #nepal #rss
